The Galleria Ca’ d’Oro, one of Rome’s most respected contemporary art galleries, announce the opening of a new Branch in Miami during Art Basel. The mission is to exhibit the leading Italian contemporary artists.

The Galleria Ca’ d’Oro in association with the Cracking Art Group have successfully completed the installation of the Pink Snails exhibition, and their animal friends in celebration of the Regeneration Project to promote environmental awareness in South Florida. The exhibition, curated by Gloria Porcella and Lamberto Petrecca has received international acclaim from the press and praise from the the City of Miami Beach.

On December 4th 2010, Galleria Ca’ d’Oro will open its new gallery in Coral Gables, where they will feature a number of other animals, including turtles, and alligators, and the latest work of Renzo Nucara, the senior founding member of the Cracking Art Collective.

Miami Beach, FL (November 30th, 2010)— The Galleria Ca’d’Oro, one of Rome’s most respected contemporary art galleries, announces the Miami Beach premier of the REgeneration Art Project. An international sensation, this engaging public art series by the renowned artistic collective Cracking Art Group uses sculptural art forms to encourage awareness of important environmental issues. For the North American debut, Galleria Ca’ d’Oro and Cracking Art Group have placed 45 pink snails—26 measuring 8ft tall, 6ft wide and 11 ft long and another 20 snails measuring 3ft tall, 2.5ft wide and 4ft long, every one made of recyclable plastic—throughout the city. This playful presentation is designed to inspire a community-wide conversation about the importance of recycling and its environmental impact, while stimulating an artistic trace on the Miami Beach area.

The installation and exhibition of the Pink Snails continues through to January 2011.

“Recycling is so much a part of the culture now that it’s easy to forget how important it is and that we can always do more. This fun art project will make people stop and wonder—and then stop and think,” says Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower. Anchored by sand for durability, the Pink Snails represent an aesthetically pleasing, ethically responsible installation, which has captured the community’s imagination, and will inspire public and private arts collaborations for years to come.

The Snails—a symbol of nature have been created in an exclusive color, from plastic recyclable material with a minimal carbon footprint—for a variety of metaphorical reasons: First, they call to mind the sense of hearing, as its shape resembles the human ear. Second, they allude to the concept of housing, since the snail carries its house and is virtually enclosed in it when necessary. Third, it evokes the inspiration to enjoy life at a “slower” pace. The Pink Snails have been produced as a limited arts edition, and an acquisition of a Pink Snail Sculpture offers a unique investment opportunity with a strong social and environmental message.

Originally launched in 1983, Cracking Art Group is the passion project of six European artists—Renzo Nucara, Carlo Rizzetti, Marco Veronese, Alex Angi, Kicco, and William Sweetlove—who wish to alter art history through both a strong environmental commitment and the innovative use of different plastic materials. Galleria Ca’ d’Oro was originally established in 1970 by Antonio Porcella, the son of Amadore Porcella, one of the most important art critics of the period and the grandson of Alpinolo Porcella, a personal friend of great Italian Masters like Filippo de Pisis and Giorgio de Chirico. Today—four generations later—Gloria Porcella and her business partner, Lamberto Petrecca, lead the gallery. La Galleria Ca’ d’Oro, una de las más respetadas galerías de arte contemporáneo de Roma, anuncia la apertura de una nueva Sede en Miami durante Art Basel. Su misión es exponer la obra de los artistas italianos líderes en el arte contemporáneo.

Los caracoles—son un símbolo de la naturaleza y han sido creados en este color rosado, a partir de material plástico reciclado con una impresión minimal de carbón—por una variedad de razones metafísicas: primero, evocan el sentido del oído, ya que su forma se asemeja a la oreja humana. Segundo, aluden al concepto de casa, pues el caracol carga su propio hogar y virtualmente se incrusta en él cuando es necesario. Tercero, evoca la invitación a disfrutar de la vida a un ritmo más “lento”. Los Caracoles rosados son una producción en edición limitada y adquirir una de las esculturas de Caracoles Rosados le brinda una oportunidad única de inversión con un fuerte mensaje social y ambiental.
