New York – Galleria Ca’ d’Oro announces its New York City grand opening with an exhibition of new paintings by Alain Bonnefoit.

The French artist will leave his Montmartre ‘atelier’ to drive the spectators through a LIVE PERFORMANCE during the inauguration.

In his 40 years career, Bonnefoit has experimented with the most varied means of expression: sculpture, mixed techniques on canvas paper, oil painting, original lithography, engraving and the sumi-e, for centuries the most prestigious form of East Asian art through a type of brush painting that use black ink. Bonnefoit indeed prefers the dimension that gives more room for spontaneity and excludes subsequent corrections. “In the same spirit I especially uses the Japanese technique of sumi-e for my paintings. Before letting myself go, it takes great concentration. Then the line becomes immediately clear, because the paper instantly drink the ink”.
Since 1967, the artist devoted his work solely to nude. “Before, I was also doing landscapes, and then at that time, I had to master Volti, the sculptor. It brought me a lot. My sculptural work on the body has influenced my painting work”.

Bonnefoit, who was born in Paris at the end of the Second World War, lives between France and Italy which he now considers his second country.
