Deep sea diver and biologist Andrea Puccetti is inspired by the work of Alexander Calder. He is fascinated by the way Calder brought single forms together with an apparent lightness using equilibrium, weight, and movement. Puccetti cuts his pieces from sheets of aluminum, found pieces of brass, and fragments of copper, steel, and iron. He brings the pieces together using tiny screws instead of glue, using his knowledge of weight and form to transform the fragments into various fish forms. His pieces are in constant motion in an invisible sea. Similar but not identical to their natural habitat, the fish display unique characteristics in each one-of-a-kind piece. Andrea Puccetti lives and works in Rome as an artist and biologist, both pursuits driven by his passion for the sea.
