In this body of work I am recasting couture construction techniques into an art context where one can absorb their formal and emotional impact in a context of reflection and meditation- separate from the criteria of garb, glamour and feminization. I’ve asked the fabric to act as a metaphor for the expressive power of paint and line- substituting linear and fierce seams for assertive strikes of charcoal, using gussets and fullness as agents of of opacity, weight and mystery.   Quietly radical, this body of work (which is still in process) represents an emotional and feminist reconciling with my nine year journey as Creative Director of the family fashion label- Zac Posen.

I practice and believe in an utter fluidity between creative languages and disciplines, and on that score, use materials in a free and exploratory manner. In Tabula Rasa I am showing finished chiffon works as well as fragments from my process which include using pencil and ink drawing, ipad drawing, draping, sculpture, print making and other mediums.
