On May 28th, 2015, Galleria Ca’ d’Oro will host the New York debut of the photography and graphic design work of Bernard Desjardins. The artist will attend.
A celebrated architect by trade, Bernard Desjardins turned his love of design from the structural to the artistic, creating a new concept in artistic photography he refers to as “Photo-Imaging.” HIs concept is characterized by combining photography with graphic images and text in layers to arrive at his final composition.
Andy & I is an homage to Andy Warhol in no uncertain terms. The graphic design influence of Warhol is apparent in the work of Desjardins. Pop art is characterized by taking more than inspiration from another source and transforming the work, or, in short, building on the past. Desjardins captures this concept by transforming well-known pop imagery into new work using photo-imaging.
Conceptual is a series inspired by the past and the artist’s worldwide travels. Desjardins is makes less than subtle political commentary by combining historical imagery with short, thought-provoking text.
