Colorful animal sculptures from snails, a crocodile and alligator, wolves, frogs, turtles, bears, meerkats to bulldogs – guarding our showrooms, the piazza, promenade and parking lot.

The installation is part of a series of impromptu encounters with works created by the Cracking Art Group and Belgium artist William Sweetlove in partnership with  Galleria Ca’ d’Oro, who has a reputation of delivering some of the most fun and engaging exhibits locally and globally. The iconic pink snails first appeared in Miami during Art Basel 2010, followed by alligators cascading the Freedom Tower in the FOREVERGLADES Art Project with Miami Dade’s College Museum of Art + Design in 2012, and red snails in New York City,  where they inhabited Central Park in 2013 for the REGENERATION Art Project.  This past art week Miami realized CRACKING BRIDGE, an installation about communication across cultures.

The animals will be on view at Ironside through March 31.

Southampton, July 24-28 – Galleria Ca’ d’Oro is honored to announce its participation in Art Southampton, NY.

Galleria Ca’ d’Oro will be participating to the Southampton Art Fair bringing important European Contemporary artists such as: Camilla Ancilotto, Ewa Bathelier, Cracking Art Group, and Alfredo Rapetti Mogol, the famous Italian songwriter. The Galleria is also proud to announce the representation of the Modern Art masters such as Salvador Dalí and Giorgio de Chirico (Close friend with Antonio Porcella), which have always been strong components for the Gallery since its origins. Galleria Ca’ d’Oro will be showcasing Giorgio de Chirico’s sculpture Cavalli Antichi, 1983 (Edition 1/6). The bronze sculpture is exclusive as Giorgio de Chirico mainly produced painting rather than sculpture during his career.

In June 2014 the Galleria has grown even further by opening its doors in Chelsea, New York City, the capital of the Art-World.
The Galleria today welcomes Renee Farina in Miami, and Giada Baselice Pignata in New York who have  joined Gloria Porcella as partners in this tenacious and enthusiastic endeavor.

CONTEXT - the sister fair to Art Miami, now in its 24th year as the longest-running art fair in Miami – is committed to the development and reinforcement of emerging and mid-career artists. The Cracking Art Group consists of six international artists: Renzo Nucara, Carlo Rizzetti, Marco Veronese, Alex Angi, Kicco, and William Sweetlove.  In its REgeneration Art Project, the group creates public art using recyclable plastic.  Plastic as the medium for its own aesthetic appeal, accepting the inevitability of our world becoming more and more artificial, and using the material’s artificiality to express their artistic sense.  The plastic triggers a social phenomenon, of which both the material and the art are available to everyone, and in utilizing recyclable plastic to demonstrate an intelligent use of the material.  With their bold visuals, the artists of the Cracking Art Group aim to link the environmental consciousness to individuals through their installations, in which super-size and visually colored animals appear unexpectedly in everyday places.  These big, vibrant animals invite viewers to re-examine their perspectives on urban life and inspire people to play with their cities.  It is the artists’ hope that their art will eventually enable us to regenerate our natural and social environment into a healthy and animated space.

The Cracking Art Group has brought its message of social and environmental awareness to over 600 exhibitions worldwide, including an installation of blue turtles for the G8 Summit 2009 in Italy and the invasion of the sensational pink snails during Art Basel Miami 2010.  The following year, blue snails were featured in Italy during the Venice Biennale 2011 and orange snails in the Rome Sculpture Biennale.  In 2012, the blue crocodile was displayed at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida, while the animals took over the historic Freedom Tower in FOREVERGLADES public art installation in connection with Miami Dade’s College Museum of Art + Design during Art Basel Miami.  Earlier this year, REgeneration Art Project installed blue snails at the top of the most important and largest cathedral in Italy, Duomo di Milano, as well as the birth of the new animal – Mama Frog – visiting the Island of San Servolo during the 55th Venice Biennale.  The Frost Art Museum located in Miami, a major cultural institution in Florida, recently acquired the crocodile sculpture as part of the collection for Art Basel Miami 2013.

Through the ongoing support of Galleria Ca ‘d’Oro and complemented by Villa Firenze Foundation, the REgeneration Art Project is now embarking on the most populous urban community in the world, New York City.  Red snails will inhabit Central Park from November 9 through December 3, 2013, before moving to Columbus Circle from December 5 to January 6, 2014.  Additionally, the red snails will take refuge at Eataly, purveyor of gourmet Italian foods from December 1 through 20.

Galleria Ca D’oro is pleased to present FOREVERGLADES an environmentally minded public art exhibition by International Artists William Sweetlove and artists collective, Cracking Art Group. Presented in partnership with Miami Dade’s College Museum of Art + Design and famed Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux, FOREVERGLADES will open with a public reception on Friday, November 30^th, at 7pm at MDC’s historic Freedom Tower. The exhibition will run through Saturday, January 26^th, 2013.

FOREVERGLADES, an interior and exterior installation in the public realm, establishes a locally conscious perspective focusing on environmental protection, sustainability, and advocacy of South Florida’s National Parks and Preserves.  An exhibition unlike anything else of its kind, FOREVERGLADES will encompass a presentation of 300 animals made out of recyclable plastic, resin, and aluminum, native of South Florida, including three specific regional species: native alligators, sea turtles, and frogs literally crawling up, down and around Miami Dade College’s nationally historic building – a feat never before attempted on the famed structure. For the European-based artists, William Sweetlove and Cracking Art Group, the animals were researched and selected for the important role each play in the development and history of our local landscape.

Accompanying the exhibition, the museum in partnership with the MDC Earth Ethics Institute, US National Parks Conservation Association, Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, Dry Tortugas National Park and Big Cypress Preserve will present:  FOREVERGLADES: here today, hopeful for tomorrow, a one-day educational symposium on Friday, November 30^th at the MDC Freedom Tower. The one-day event will feature panel discussions, exhibitions, and performances focusing on the education of advocacy for our fragile South Florida landscape and how artists seek unique ways to present the message. The future may be unknown for the Florida Everglades, but FOREVERGLADES is a true testament to how artists use art to create public awareness for the world we compromise in hopes it will exist forever.

Additional support for FOREVERGLADES is provided by the Consulate General of Italy, Consulate General of Belgium, Consulate General of France, Gulliver Preparatory School and the Biscayne Nature Center.  The official opening event for “2013, Year of Italian Culture in the US,” will also take place during the opening of FOReverglades with the patronage of the Consulate General of Italy in Miami and the European Ministry of the Environment.

“Italy is well known for its cuisine, fashion, and design.  With this initiative we aim to demonstrate that Italy also has talent in the field of contemporary art. Italians can export brilliant artists and create prestigious events for the world to enjoy.  The ecological messages of our artists are well developed in Italy and we are delighted to collaborate with the national parks here in Miami to further their important work in preserving our environment”, declares Gloria Porcella, Italian curator of the Miami Installation.

“The importance of preserving our environment is beautifully represented in FOReverglades”, says Michele Sofisti, CEO of Sowind (Girard-Perregaux and jeanrichard). “We hope that together we are able to spread the message further and increase public awareness of this issue”.

The Pink Snails begun their journey in the Southern East Coast of the U.S. and at a Snails pace they will be found in the bustling Metropolitan cities all over the Nation. Now they are inching their way across Miami.

They became famous during Art Basel and are now a beloved invasion in South Florida. Sadly, they left their home in Miami Beach and will now be nesting in “City Beautiful”, Coral Gables for two months. After that, they may start making their way up North? But for now, the family of Snails can be found throughout The Gables including in:

These adored Pink Snails come courtesy of the international artistic collective Cracking Art Group and Italy’s renowned Galleria Ca d’Oro, which now has a premier new location in Coral Gable, Florida, on San Lorenzo North of Merrick Park Village, where more Cracking Art can be seen. Part of the global sensation known as the REgeneration Art Project, the Pink Snails are part of an intriguing public art series designed to inspire a community-wide conversation about the importance of recycling and its environmental impact, while leaving a potent artistic trace in the communities we live in. They are embracing bold, unexpected visuals (And what does one call several oversized snails in the middle of bustling city if not unexpected?), the REgeneration Art Project has developed an international following by placing large, colored animal installations in a variety of unusual spaces worldwide, including Paris, Milan, Rome, Venice, Torino and Prague, just to name a few.

The snails symbolize nature created from recycled, artificial material, and leaves a minimal carbon footprint, which is to encourage people to re-examine existing perceptions of urban life, and inspire us to play with our cities, as well as to mentally and physically rejuvenate them, in other words, to REgenerate them into more healthy, vibrant, animated and loving environments.
The exhibition is curated by renowned Italian directors Gloria Porcella and Lamberto Petrecca.
